About Grow Outdoors SC
Grow Outdoors South Carolina is a joint initiative of the South Carolina Department of Social Services – Division of Early Care and Education and the South Carolina Department of Public Health – Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Prevention Section. This initiative aims to transfer knowledge and support the early childhood community to create vibrant outdoor spaces that inspire curiosity, creativity, and physical activity among children.

Information & Resources
We promote outdoor spaces that foster diverse play and hands-on learning experiences. Grow Outdoors SC offers guidance on their benefits and shares creative, low-cost ideas to help create engaging outdoor environments.
Professional Development
We equip child care providers with skills, tools, and knowledge to champion outdoor play and learning. Grow Outdoors SC offers training, coaching, and support to enhance outdoor spaces, meet regulations, and promote children’s development through outdoor play.
Design Assistance
ABC Quality licensed child care centers are invited to apply to participate in a design cohort. Selected programs gain comprehensive support in planning, designing, and creating a naturalized outdoor play and learning environment that enriches children’s experiences.
